Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports multiple arrests during the overnight for drug and weapon possession charges as wells as DWIs.
October 27, 7:37 P.M., Elma – Deputy Day performed a traffic stop on Route 400 near Jamison Road for equipment violations and while speaking with the operator detected a strong odor of marijuana. Further investigation revealed Andrea Potter, 27 of Buffalo, possessed a quantity of marijuana and brass knuckles. She was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, possession of marijuana and an equipment violation. The defendant was released on appearance tickets.
October 27, 9:15 P.M., Holland – Deputy Zamorek initiated a traffic stop for vehicle and traffic violations. During his investigation, he discovered the operator Katelyn Drake, 22 of Arcade, was in the possession of heroin and hypodermic needles. Drake was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument, aggravated unlicensed operation and two vehicle and traffic violations.
The Deputy’s investigation also discovered the passenger, Corey Schaefer – 29 of Arcade, was in violation of an order of protection involving Drake and he was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and disobeying the order of protection.
Both defendants are at the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.
October 27, 11:03 P.M., Springville – Deputy Thurston stopped a vehicle on Colonial Drive following an indication from the license plate reader indicating the vehicle’s registration was suspended. The Deputy’s investigation revealed Nathan Engler, 34 of Concord, had his driving privileges suspended and he was taken into custody. Further investigation discovered a felony amount of cocaine in his possession and he was subsequently charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation, and driving a vehicle with a suspended license.
Engler is at the holding center pending his arraignment.
October 28, 3:06 A.M., Buffalo – Deputy Zamorek stopped a vehicle near the intersection of William and Michigan streets for traffic violations. While speaking with Markey Turner, 28 of Buffalo, he observed signs of intoxication. Turner failed standard field sobriety tests and was subsequently charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation as well as multiple infractions including drinking alcohol in the vehicle, improper plates, operating a vehicle without insurance, inspection and without proper plates.
Turner is at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
October 28, 3:47 A.M., Clarence – Multiple sheriff and Amherst units were dispatched to Transit Road in Clarence for reports of erratic vehicle operation and the vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. The driver failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and was eventually stopped by Deputy Rozycki and Amherst police. While attempting to place Brad Harriger, 39 of Buffalo, into custody he began to resist and an Amherst police officer deployed a Taser.
Harriger was charged with aggravated DWI, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, and reckless driving along with seven vehicle and traffic violations. The defendant is at the holding center pending his arraignment.
