Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputy Dennis Orlowski responded to a rollover accident on Sheridan Drive in the Town of Clarence Friday around 5:30 p.m. When the Deputy arrived, he observed damage to a fire hydrant, an uprooted tree and the vehicle overturned. First aid responded to the crash scene where two boys, 8 and 13, were transported to Women and Children’s Hospital for their injuries.
Deputies met with Brian Maybee, 43 of Amherst, at the hospital and charged him with three misdemeanors and five traffic infractions. The charges include two counts of Reckless Endangerment, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, reckless driving, speeding, no seat belts for the rear passengers and other vehicle and traffic violations.
Maybee was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Clarence Town Court on June 25.
The children’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening and Child Protective Services was notified.
