Erie County Undersheriff Mark Wipperman reports Deputies utilized an AED and NARCAN to save the life of an individual who over dosed on heroin.
Shortly after midnight on October 5, Deputies Jason Bouton, Donald Hoelscher and Lt. William Cranston responded to a first aid call in Springville. The initial report indicated that the victim had overdosed with heroin.
When the Deputies arrived they found the victim unresponsive. Lt Cranston and Deputy Hoelscher began performing CPR and utilized the patrol’s Automatic External Defibrillator meanwhile Deputy Bouton administered intranasal naloxone (NARCAN).
Within moments of the treatment, the victim began to respond and later revived. The victim was transported to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
