Erie County Undersheriff Mark Wipperman announces the arrest of the driver that caused a fiery crash on Whitehaven Road in Grand Island on September 22.
Sgt. Daniel Dytchkowski and Deputy Joseph Raczynski arrested Nicholas Fachko, 25 of Grand Island, on 1st Degree Felony Vehicular Assault charges Wednesday night. The arrest follows a week long investigation by the Erie County Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit.
Along with the felony assault charge, Fachko was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated DWI, Following Too Close and unreasonable speed.
The defendant posted $7,500 bail at his arraignment hearing in Grand Island Town Court Wednesday night and was processed at the Erie County Holding Center by order of the Judge.
