Erie County Undersheriff Mark Wipperman reports the arrest of a Town of Tonawanda man on drug and weapon charges after being stopped for speeding.
On October 1, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Deputy O’Neil observed a vehicle traveling at 61 mph in a 45 mph zone on Transit Road in the Town of Elma. The deputy initiated a vehicle stop in a parking lot along Transit Road. When the Deputy approached the car he detected a strong odor of marijuana.
Upon search of the vehicle, the Deputy discovered marijuana and plastic bag containing three Xanax pills as well as a stun gun.
Deputy O’Neil arrested Ryan Hessler, 19, on Criminal Possession of Weapon/Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance – both misdemeanors. Additional charges include Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, possessing a controlled substance not in its original container and a speeding violation.
Hessler was released on Appearance Tickets pending a court date in the Town of Elma.
