Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the arrest of Jason Lehnortt, 37 of North Collins after a brief pursuit by a Deputy.
While on patrol, the license plate reader on Deputy Van Wie’s vehicle indicated that a passing vehicle was being operated with a suspended registration. When the Deputy turned around to investigate the vehicle, the driver accelerated and attempted to flee. Deputy Van Wie was successful in stopping the vehicle and after a short pursuit. Upon performing a DMV check on the driver, it was determined that Lehnortt was operating the vehicle with 7 active suspensions and 2 different revocations on his New York State driver’s license.
Lehnortt’s license was suspended twice for failing to pay child support, once for a DWI, twice for failing to pay a fine and failure to answer 2 court summons in the Town of Eden. Including the suspensions Lehnortt’s license was revoked for a DWI and failure to submit to a chemical test.
Lehnortt was arrested and charged with Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a vehicle and three traffic violations. Lehnortt was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and is being held on $250 bail.
