Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the early morning arrest of a Hamburg man for DWI following his one car property damage only crash on Mayer Rd. in the Town of Boston.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Ken Achtyl and Matt Krypel responded to Mayer Rd. near Feddick Rd. in the Town of Boston for a report of one vehicle crash early Wednesday morning around 1:00am.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that a vehicle driven by 33 y/o James M. Weiss of Feddick Rd. in Hamburg had left the roadway and struck a tree and a couple mailboxes. There were no injuries.
Further interview and field sobriety tests found Weiss to be intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DWI and other traffic violations.
Weiss submitted to a chemical breath test which resulted in a .13% BAC. His vehicle was towed from the scene and he was later released to a third party on appearance tickets to the Town of Boston Court at a later date.
This was the 157th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
