Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two area drivers for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols Thursday night.
Shortly before midnight Thursday, following a traffic stop on Aspen Street in the Town of Newstead Deputy Gene Nati arrested Paul Staub, 43, of Belfast NY. He was processed at the Sheriff’s Station on Goodrich Road in Clarence and released on appearance tickets to a sober third party. He refused to provide a breath sample and as a result, as per New York State Vehicle and Traffic law, the Department of Motor Vehicles will be notified of his refusal and will revoke his driver’s license.
At about 2:30am Friday, Deputy Nati responded to a report of a single car accident on Via Marina St in the Town of Clarence and discovered that Richard Recckio, 20, of Williamsville had struck a curb and road sign. After failing several Standard Field Sobriety Tests he was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. A breath test revealed his Blood Alcohol Content was .14%. After processing he was released on an appearance ticket to appear in court on a future date.
These two arrests by Deputy Nati bring the Sheriff’s Road Patrol total DWI arrests for the year to 154.
