Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of an area driver for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols Wednesday night.
Deputy Tim Dusza observed a vehicle driven by Daniel Vohwinkel (51) operating erratically on Broadway in the Village of Lancaster. After the traffic stop he was subsequently given Standard Field Sobriety Tests that led to him being charged with DWI. His Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was .26%, more than 3 times the legal limit. He was processed at the Sheriff’s Station on Bowen Road in Elma and released on appearance tickets to a sober third party.
The charge is an Aggravated DWI due to Mr. Vohwinkel’s BAC being greater than .18%. This is the 151th Driving While Intoxicated Arrest by Sheriff’s Road Patrols in 2014.
