Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the early Saturday morning arrest of an Akron man for DWI following a two car property damage accident on Cedar St. in the Village of Akron.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Gene Nati and Don Hoelscher responded to Cedar St. in the Village of Akron around 1:00am Saturday morning for a report of a two vehicle property damage accident.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that a pick-up truck driven by 35 y/o Harold C. Schilling of Akron struck another vehicle and pushed that vehicle into a tree. There were no injuries at the scene and Schilling left the scene on foot.
Schilling was located a short time later on Hake Rd. near Jackson St. in Akron. Further interview and field sobriety tests found Schilling to be intoxicated.
Schilling was subsequently arrested for DWI and upon a chemical breath test, found Schilling to have a .15% BAC.
Schilling was later released on appearance tickets for DWI and traffic violations to a third party, returnable to the Town of Newstead Court at a later date.
This was the 145th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
