Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the evening arrest of a Springville woman for Aggravated DWI following a traffic stop on the Rt. 219 in the Town of Concord.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Jon Hanna and Don Hoelscher, along with Springville Officer Dave Hock, responded to S. Cascade in the Village of Springville for a report of a reckless female driver in a black SUV. The vehicle was observed heading north on the Rt. 219 out of Springville and was subsequently stopped a short time later.
Upon further interview and field sobriety tests, it was determined that the driver, 65 y/o Margaret E. Derrick of Springville, was intoxicated.
Derrick submitted to a chemical breath test which resulted in a .19% BAC, over twice the legal limit.
Derrick was arrested and charged with Aggravated DWI and other traffic violations and was later released on appearance tickets to a third party.
Derrick's vehicle was towed from the scene.
This was the 137th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
