Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of seven minors and a parent after the Sheriff’s Office received a tip on the Underage Drinking Tip Line about a party and suspected alcohol use.
Deputies responded to a residence on Keller Rd in the Town of Clarence for a reported underage drinking party just after midnight, July 13.  Upon arrival, the Deputies detained some individuals attempting to leave in their vehicles and proceeded around the dwelling to the backyard.  At this point some party goers ran into the woods; Deputies pursued them and many were caught and detained.
Deputies interviewed Stephen Langley, homeowner and parent of one of the minors, and he stated he was in the house and was unaware so many people were in the yard but he was attempting to monitor the party for any alcohol.
Langley, age 45, was charged with two misdemeanors; 1) giving alcohol to a person under 21 and 2) acting in a manner to injure a minor. The seven minors were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol.
An appearance ticket was issued to Stephen Langley and he is scheduled to appear in Clarence Town Court on August 7.
Sheriff Howard said, “We appreciate the fact that a concerned citizen called the Underage Drinking Tip Line and I want encourage other residents use the tip line to notify the Sheriff’s Office of similar parties.  That phone call could prevent a tragedy.
The Underage Drinking Tip Line is anonymous, confidential and free. Concerned adults, teachers, students and friends now have a number to call 24 hours a day, to report planned underage drinking parties; underage drinking parties taking place or other activities that may be harmful to the health, safety and welfare of young people.
