Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that on July 8, Sheriff’s Detectives arrested three minors involved in a string of car break-ins and for attempting to sell a stolen handgun.
Detectives Hatch, McCarthy and Parisi were all involved in the investigation of a string of vehicle break-ins within and around the Village of Springville. One of the vehicles broken into had a handgun stolen from an internal compartment. The investigation revealed that the three minors each attempted to sell the handgun at different times.
After interviewing each of the suspects, the Detectives were able to ascertain the location of the handgun and retrieved it from the home of one of the suspects.
The list of charges the three minors face are:
Felony Grand Larceny of a Firearm
Felony Criminal Sale of a Firearm to a Minor
Felony Possession of a Firearm with Intent to Sell
Felony Criminal Possession of a Firearm
Acting in a Manner to Injury a Child Less than 17 – Misdemeanor
Each suspect was issued an appearance ticket and released to their respective guardian
