Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of Robert M. Feirabend, 49, of Cheektowaga after Deputies pursued him to the Erie/Wyoming county line where Wyoming County Sheriffs and Arcade Police Officers stopped the vehicle with the deployment of tire spikes.
Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies first responded to a domestic violence and property damage call at the Mountain Meadows Camp Ground in Holland. When Deputies arrived at the camp grounds Feirabend had left the area in his vehicle. Deputies ahead of Feirabend’s route were radioed and requested to pull over his Ford F-150 pickup truck. However, Feirabend reached speeds of 80 mph refusing to pull over for Deputies. Due to the high rate of speed, Deputies slowed their pursuit and notified area law enforcement agencies asking for assistance.
Feirabend continued to drive at a high rate of speed when he entered Wyoming County. Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies and Village of Arcade Police Officers took over the pursuit as Feirabend was heading east on Route 39 toward the Village of Arcade. Wyoming County Deputies deployed tire spike strips to slow the vehicle and a short distance later the vehicle was stopped.
Sheriff Howard said, “This incident ended as safely as possible with the deployment of the spike strips. Those strips allowed the additional responding Deputies and Officers to stop the vehicle without other motorists being put in harm’s way.”
Among numerous vehicle and traffic charges, Feirabend was arrested on domestic violence charges and is being held without bail at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in Holland Town Court. Additional charges may be filed.
Howard continues, “I certainly want to thank Sheriff Greg Rudolph, Wyoming County, and his Deputies as well as Chief Biscaro and the Arcade Village Police Department for their assistance in capturing this violent individual.”
