Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the early morning arrest of a Town of Basom man for DWI following his property damage vehicle accident with a parked car on 04/18/14.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputies Jason Breinlinger and Brendan Connolly responded to Longhouse Rd. on the Seneca Nation Reservation a little after midnight on Friday morning for a report of a vehicle striking a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival and further investigation it was discovered that a vehicle driven by 20 y/o Cyle J. Sundown of Basom N.Y. was travelling on Longhouse Rd. when it struck a parked vehicle on the road. Sundown was not injured but subsequent field sobriety tests revealed that Sundown was intoxicated.
Sundown was arrested and charged with DWI and other traffic violations. Sundown sumbmitted to a chemical breath test which resulted in a reading of .16 % BAC, twice the legal limit.
Sundown's vehicle was towed from the scene and he was later released to family members with appearance tickets to the Town of North Collins Court at a later date.
This was the 67th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Road Patrol this year.
