Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the early morning arrest of an Elma man for DWI following his one vehicle property damage accident in the Town of Holland.
Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Todd Jones responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Hunters Creek Rd. in the Town of Holland.
Upon arrival, Deputy Jones located the vehicle in a ditch with heavy front end damage. Deputy Jones spoke to the driver, 21 y/o Rodney T. Offhaus Jr. of Schwartz Rd. in Elma, and upon further interview and field sobriety testing, found Offhaus to be intoxicated. There were no injuries sustained in the accident. Offhaus was arrested and charged with DWI and numerous other traffic violations. He submitted to a chemical breath test which registered a .11% BAC. Offhaus's vehicle was towed from the scene and secured on a DWI hold. He was later released to a third party with appearance tickets to the Town of Holland Court at a later date.
This was the 52nd DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office this year.
