Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two area drivers for DWI by Sheriff’s Road Patrols late Saturday night.
After responding to a call of a man passed out in a parking lot in Grand Island Deputies Jason Clark and Bradley Girdler discovered David J. Schmidt (24) asleep with his car running. He was subsequently charged him with DWI. His Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was .14%. He was processed at the Whitehaven Road Station and released on appearance tickets.
Following a traffic stop in the Village of Akron Deputy Brandon Stott arrested Michael J. Smith (25) for DWI. His BAC was .10%. After processing he was released on appearance tickets to a sober third party.
This marks the 31st Driving While Intoxicated Arrest by Sheriff’s Road Patrols in 2014.
