The Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of an Elma man on 02/20/14 after an overnight larceny. Employees from Oakgrove Construction contacted Detective Parisi to report a number of items had been stolen from the company which is located at 6900 Seneca St in Elma. While Detective Parisi was investigating the larceny with representatives of the company, Deputy Weiss pulled over a pickup truck which contained various building materials. The driver, Paul Phillians, was found to be driving on a suspended license and when Deputies took a closer look at the contents of the bed of the pickup truck they thought they could be the stolen items from Oakgrove. Deputy Weiss and Detective Parisi towed the vehicle and the inventory was positively identified by employees as property of Oakgrove. Mr. Phillians was charged with Criminal Mischief 4th, Grand Larceny 4th, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th, and Criminal Trespass 3rd, as well as driving on a suspended license. He was taken to the Holding Center to be held pending arraignment in the Town of Elma Court.
