Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of an Akron man for DWI on 02/21/14. This is the 28th DWI arrest by Erie Co. Sheriff's Office in 2014.
Deputy Kristin Rozycki responded to a report of a property damage accident at a bar on Main St. in the Town of Clarence. A security guard had witnessed a pick-up truck strike a car in the bar parking lot. The driver then got out of the car and switched drivers with a friend who had come out of the bar. The truck then left the scene but the security guard was able to get the license plate number. The truck was located by Deputy Christopher Soluri near the home of the registered owner. 23 year old Mitchell Rehwaldt was taken into custody and returned to the accident scene where he was indentified by the security guard. Rehwaldt was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested and charged with DWI. He refused to take a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content. He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Clarence Court at a later date.
