Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Village of Depew man for Driving while ability impaired by drugs and two counts of Leandra's Law on 02/05/14. This is the 17th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office in 2014.
Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz responded to a report of a two vehicle property damage accident on Main St. @ Sandridge Rd. in the Town of Alden. Further investigation by Deputy Biegasiewicz, a drug recognition expert, revealed that the driver of one of the vehicles involved, 30 year old David Wilczak, was impaired by drugs. Wilczak was arrested and charged with DWI Drugs. Wilczak was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of Leandra's Law as he had two children, ages five and nine, in his vehicle at the time of the accident. Wilczak admitted to Deputy Biegasiewicz that he had been using heroin that day but refused to submit to a blood test.
