Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that a North Tonawanda woman was arrested for DWI late this afternoon. This is the Erie County Sheriff's 266th DWI arrest in 2013.
Deputies Thomas Was and David Makowski responded to a complaint of reckless operation of a vehicle in the Town of Grand Island. It was further reported that the same vehicle had struck guard rails on the Rt. 190 bridge. The vehicle was located by patrol and the driver of the vehicle, 49 yr. old Coleen Duncan, was found to be intoxicated. Ms. Duncan was taken into custody and transported to the Erie County Sheriff's Grand Island substation where she refused to submit to a chemical breath test. Ms. Duncan was charged with Felony DWI due to a prior conviction of DWI in September of 2007 and was charged with other vehicle and traffic charges. Ms. Duncan was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on bail. She will be arraigned at the Town of Grand Island Court at a future date.
